Turf Myth- “I must water my lawn every day!”

It is true that you should water a new lawn every day until the roots are established. However, many people continue this watering schedule after the yard is already established. They water every day for 15-20 minutes and assume this is providing enough water. However, this type of watering does not promote healthy turf. It is better to water LESS often and water LONGER than to do shorter spurts all the time. The University of Florida Turfgrass page has some great information on exactly how much water is need for each type of sod.
